About Us

Meet Our Team

Our Spanish Teachers have been selected from a rigorous examination process and they all have University degrees. They have been chosen for their experience in teaching Spanish to foreigners, for their high marks from university, for their ability to listen, enthusiasm, and more. Above all, all our teachers love to teach. They have the ability to motivate and increase your interest in the Spanish language. In this way your classes will be fun and you will learn quickly.

It is important to us at Nativos Project to provide a quality experience whether you are taking Spanish lessons, volunteering, interning, or a bit of everything. Our teachers have at least three years of experience and love to share their knowledge and experience.

Jossie Lilian Coacalla Juares

My name is Jossie and I am the director of Nativos Spanish School. I have been a Spanish teacher for 15 years. While I was working I saw some friends who had no luck with their couple so they had to separate becoming single mothers. They worked all day Monday to Saturday, so these mothers did not have enough time to spend with their children, just to earn a basic salary. While they worked they left their children in the care of family member or a friend. Because of this situation they could not work efficiently because they were worried about the welfare of their children. On the other hand, with my job teaching Spanish, I could choose if I wanted to work 4 hours a day, getting a salary equal to theirs for 8-hours. I thought that was unfair, these mothers having to work all day because they needed the money for her family since they did not have the support of their child's father. Seeing this problem, we decided to create Nativos Spanish School so that these mothers could work part time with the same salary as before but with the difference they have the rest of the day to enjoy with their childre

Our Work

Spanish School

Nativos’ first project, our Spanish school, remains at the heart of what we do. Through our Spanish language programs, we provide financial stability to local teachers by guaranteeing minimum wages, enabling them to provide better food, clothing, insurance, and housing for their children, as well as send them to better schools. Tuition fees support our teachers and overhead expenses, while the involvement of our students through volunteer placements and homestay facilitation helps local people improve their lives.

Community Impact: Supporting Single Mothers

We are motivated by the shocking reality that almost three-quarters of Cusco’s poorest people are single mothers unable to find employment. One of the greatest obstacles for a single mother in Cusco to rise out of poverty is the lack of child care. Without community support, mothers must work with their children alongside them, usually selling cheap goods on the street—work that provides very low earnings and creates unsafe environments for children while preventing mothers from attending trade school or skill-building programs.

We are raising funds to open a preschool center for young children (1-3 years old) of single mothers in poverty. The center will operate at no charge to mothers and provide professional care, age-appropriate activities, daily nutrition, and preventative medical care. Through Nativos Corazon, these single mothers will be able to pursue education, job skills, and living-wage employment—transformative support that will boost entire families into financial stability and change their lives for years to come.

Volunteer & Internship Opportunities

Whether you’re a student taking a gap year, a recent graduate, a working professional seeking meaningful vacation time, or anyone looking to gain practical experience while giving back, we welcome people of all ages to participate in our programs. We provide safe, enriching, and life-changing experiences that allow you to discover a new culture while making a real difference.

Our volunteer opportunities include teaching English and childcare, while our internship programs offer hands-on experience in medical, dentistry, and nursing fields. With full-time, professional in-country support, your journey with us will be supported, fun, and impactful.

While our Spanish school is a successful social enterprise, the support that we receive from sponsors and donors worldwide is vital to the ongoing training and support work that the Nativos NGO does, as well as to our future projects. If you are interested in making a donation, or helping out by offering materials please contact us through the form.
